1) The name of Charles Darwin’s ship was The Beagle.
2) You could float the planet Saturn in a bath (if you had a seriously big bath). It’s density is lighter than water.
3) The chameleon has one of the longest tongues (per body centimetre) than any other animal. It’s tongue is twice the length of the rest of it!
4) A single dairy cow will give around two hundred thousand glasses of milk over the course of her life.
5) There is a temple in India devoted to Rat Goddess Karni Mata, that is home to more than twenty thousand rats.
6) A newborn kangaroo is only about 2,5 centimetres long.
7) When a human baby is born, they can stand alone for about a minute after birth. It’s nature’s way of making sure they have the strength to pull themselves to the breast for the first life-giving feed if their mother dies in childbirth.
Just for the record, a zebra is actually white – it just has black stripes.
9) An electric eel can zap you with up to 650 volts in a single strike.
10) An iguana is not a true amphibian, but it can stay underwater for around 30 minutes.
11) Camels have three eyelids to protect those pretty peepers from sand.
12) And camel’s milk doesn’t curdle, so it doesn’t need to be refrigerated.
13) Catnip has the same effect on lions and tigers as on a normal domestic housecat.
14) Dragonflies are the fastest insects (up to 40 km per hour).
15) Pigs, pale horses and walruses are the only other animal apart from humans that suffer from sunburn.
